Daylight savings time in southeastern Europe catches up to North America this weekend. Also, the sun just crept out after too many days of heavy rain. Flowers are busting out all over here now.



The sight of flowers growing out of a rock wall must be an image that brought Zen poets to their knees. Who needs a single word when the earth so flagrantly—and sometimes fragrantly—lays waste to human effort. Gently but in no uncertain terms, the earth’s fecund citizenry reminds humanity of its place in the natural world. I believe Trooper put it best when they sang, “We’re here for a good time, not a long time.”
