Hello from Corfu! I’m on a break from all the sitting, staying in the tiniest-ever Airbnb unit. It’s a new reno in an old building. Compact in a way that feels like one of those pod hotel units: a built-in bed with built-in drawers, a wall-mounted desk with one chair, a closet space for clothes, another one for food-related stuff. There’s a fridge, a kettle, a Nespresso machine, and a handful of dishes, but no cooktop. I’ve added a sealed plastic container for non-fridge foods.

The ferry ride from Igoumenitsa to Corfu. My silver blue silk heart.

Before I found this spot, I’d resigned myself to the prospect of all holiday rentals being priced out of my reach. Finding this place was like winning the budget traveller’s lottery. The standard setup for a ghost story or some architectural disaster.

I’ll spare you the suspenseful build-up. I woke up in bed Thursday morning when a cockroach perched on my neck.
