After my sensory overload last week in Athens, I’ve spent this past week calming all my senses way down in a small town called Marmari on the Greek island of Evia. In contrast to the people-y maze of Athens, this town of barely 2000 and one main street is so still I can sit here on the daybed and hear the swish of water lapping on the beach.

Allow me to “well, actually” you for a minute. I’m spelling it Evia but I think its more correct spelling is Euboea—er, Εύβοια actually. It’s the country’s second-largest island (Crete being the largest). Looking at the map, you might not realize it’s an island, attached as it is by a bridge to mainland Greece.

An island you can drive to, that reminds me of Random Island back home. We used to call that one Fraggle Rock. But I digress.
