It’s just turned September, and it’s Labour Day Weekend, time for back-to-school for those who celebrate. I’m in a time crunch this weekend with a few work and life commitments to juggle, so it doesn’t feel much like a holiday where I’m sitting. Still, the switch to September does carry a sense of something like a fresh start. In many ways, I find this month often feels like The Other New Year’s Day, a time for a refresh and reboot.
In the spirit of labour, I’m thinking of all those workspaces I like to photograph and share. Most score higher for aesthetic value than they do for, say, capitalist productivity. Truth is, my most productive workspaces are places where I get so deep into my task that I forget about my surroundings. The spaces where I really manage to hustle or grind or whatever words you want to use for getting stuff done on time tend to be ergonomic no-no’s.
